Christmas Performance

Thank you parents for coming along to celebrate our Christmas performance of Eddie the Penguin with us.  The children showed their many artistic talents.  We were so impressed that they had learned so many songs, dances and actions to present to us so enthusiastically.  They gave a very important message too.  I'll certainly be checking to make sure I switch off any lights when I leave a room.

Thank you all KS1 and Reception staff for another great performance.

Dance offs, Dabbing and Disco Shoes!

Another fantastic school Cabot Disco organised by Claire Humphreys and our school PTFA.  This has become a highlight of the school year.  Claire, thank you so much for all the organisation, and thank you Mr Copley for doing the DJing honours once again.

Christmas Performance

Our Key Stage 1 and Reception performance of our Christmas Play, Eddie the Penguin Saves the World, will take place on Tuesday 13th December at 9.10.  Please arrive early for a prompt start.  The children have worked very hard for this performance and we don't want to distract them once the performance has begun.  I am afraid no late comers will be allowed to come in.

Look forward to seeing you there,

Mr Burton

Our Christmas Tree

Our school hall is looking very festive.  We have a particularly fine tree once again, thanks to Mrs Taylor's dad.  I think this is the 6th year running he's provided us with a tree.  We really appreciate the time he taken to collect and deliver to us every year.

Best wishes everyone,

Mr Burton

Year 5 Bake Off

Well done Year 5 pupils for taking part in your special Bake Off challenge.  First they harvested some apples straight from Whitchurch Community Orchad before being whisked off to Ashton Court to rise to the challenge of making the tastiest Apple Crumble.  The panel of judges were very impressed by the high standard of cooking shown by our children.  Team 2 were the winners and will compete in the next round against other schools.

Oliver Twist

The whole of Key Stages 1 and 2 enjoyed a full cast production of Oliver Twist by visiting theatre company M&M Productions this week.  Children enjoyed this classic tale that covered a range of emotions.  We loved joining in the singing of Food ,Glorious Food  and we were truly gripped whenever Bill Sykes came on  stage.  Many of the children have told us they've been inspired by this performance.  Playing 'Oliver Twist' has been a favourite playground game this week.  We're looking forward to seeing the children do some performances of their own very soon.

Term 1 September 2016

Dear All,

Welcome to the new academic school year,

It was great to see you all again after the Summer break.  It sounds like many of you have made some interesting journeys to places around the world.  Others like me have stayed closer to home and enjoyed the chance to catch up with friends and family.  Thank you so much for the lovely plant some of you presented me with at the end of term.  The flowers came into bloom and brightened my home throughout the holiday.

The children settled very well in their new classes yesterday.  We welcomed our new members of staff to their first official day at Cabot.  Our new class teachers are Miss Quinton in Year 1, Miss Heeley in Year 5 and we also welcomed Miss Pyburn who will be supporting Mrs Taylor in Reception.  I know many of you have already introduced yourselves to them.  They are available for quick check ins at the start and end of the day though you can arrange to meet with them by appointment if you would like to have a longer discussion.  There will be parents meetings in the week beginning 10th October where you can all spend some more time with your child's class teacher.

I wish you all a positive week as we reacquaint ourselves with school routines.

Best wishes,
Mr Burton

Year 5 road safety project

Look what Year 5 have done for our community!

With the help of our friends and Sustrans and local artist, Felix, our pupils have designed a piece of road art to help calm traffic on one of our busy streets.  It was good fun having a community part on Grosvenor whilst it was closed to traffic.

Cabot Carnival

As you know there is no St Paul's carnival planned for this year.  But that didn't stop us having our own Cabot event.  Miss Heppner did a fantastic job of organising and arranging our own in school event.

We had all the colour, dancing and samba rhythms you'd expect to find in Rio!

Thank you PTFA for donating the money needed to pay for the Samba workshops for every class.
