Dear Parents,
I am very pleased to announce to you that Miss Hunter has been appointed as the permanent Deputy Head at Cabot.
You will know from your experiences with Miss Hunter and our Ofsted report that she is an Outstanding class teacher and School Leader.
You might not notice much difference in her new role. She will continue to work in the Year 2 class on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and support leadership across the school on Mondays and Tuesdays.
The big difference is that we know she is permanent in her position and has committed to the long term improvement of our great school.
Best Wishes

Spring Fair
What a fantastic end to Term 4 we had with our first ever Spring Fair. So much to eat, games to play, books to buy and beautiful face painting and Mendhi patterns. We had so much fun you would have hardly noticed it was pouring down. (Except Gabi perhaps who did such an excellent job running the coconut shy in the rain.)
It was great to see so many of you there. Thank you so much to all the parents, staff and governors who contributed items for the stalls or helpded run them in the afternoon. And of course, a very special thank you to Shakira who organised the event. If this is a sign of how the PTFA is going to support the school in the future we can expect great things.
Best Wishes everyone

Dear Parents,
It was great to see so many of you at the parent meetings over the last two afternoons. Thank you for your kind feedback about how you feel the school is doing. It was pleasing to hear that you feel well informed about your children's progress. Remember you can register your feedback on the Parentview website.

Another website I would like to bring to your attention to is the Data Dashboard. It is a new website the government has introduced to give you more information about the school. As you will see, our results in Key Stage 1 compare very well to other schools locally and nationally. Our Key Stage 2 results are not quite there yet but we know with the improved teaching pupils are now receiving they will be very soon.
We have a great team of teachers across the school who are very well supported by teaching assistants and other adults all working to do the best for your children. Mr Ross, Miss Hunter and Miss Pearce will be coming in during the holidays to help support some of our Year 6 pupils with some additional tutoring before their Key Stage 2 SATs. With your ongoing support, Cabot will very soon be the great school this community deserves.

Don't forget, The Spring Fair will be taking place after school tomorrow. Look forward to seeing you all the and wishing you a happy holiday.

Ofsted Report
Dear Parents,
By now you will have had chance to read our latest Ofsted report. I am pleased they were able to identify the positive steps we have made towards becoming a good school. We know the school has been on an improvement journey for a few years now and we are starting to see the impact of our efforts in the children's learning and behaviour. We know our results for children lower down the school are some of the best in Bristol. We have not quite achieved the same levels in Key Stage 2 yet which is why Ofsted were unable to grade us as Good overall. However, we know with the commitment and hard work of our skilled teachers, your children and you yourselves we will get there.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Have a good weekend.

Busy Week
Dear Parents,
What a busy last week of term we have had!
As you know we had an inspection visit from Ofsted this week. The judgement is still under review and it will be a few weeks before it is published. What I can tell you is that the visit went smoothly and we think their judgement will be very fair.
Meanwhile, as well as the usual good teaching of Reading, Writing and Maths, we have also been celebrating Music Week. This morning we had a fantastic celebration assembly with every class performing a piece of music or dance. I felt so proud to be working in a school with such talented pupils and staff. We are all very grateful to Miss Heppner for leading such an outstanding focus week and performance.
My only sadness was that you weren't able to see your children perform. Unfortunately, our school hall is too small to fit in all the pupils and parents at the same time. So, I am trying to find a nearby venue where we can share our performance with you. I'll let you know more as soon as I find out when and where this could be.
The photograph above is a Gospel Choir who came to sing to children. This was organised by Mrs Cartlidge, our one to one tutor who is a member of the choir. It was an inspirational performance enjoyed by pupils and staff alike.
Have a happy half term break. We look forward to seeing you back on the 18th February.
Best Wishes
Tom Burton
