Library opening to pupils next week.

Our new library will be open to pupils from next week. We are so pleased that this fantastic new resource will very soon be used by children to support and enrich their learning in and reading and across the wider curriculum. As from next Tuesday, classes will have a weekly timetabled session with their class teacher and Miss Stevenson, our lead librarian. I am sure your children will be very excited to tell you all about how they are using the library.

At our next Headteacher and Parent Group meeting on Thursday October 2nd, we will include a tour of the new library before discussing our new assessment procedures to match the 2014 National Curriculum.

Welcome Reception Pupils

Our Reception class was full of happy smiles from children, parents and staff this morning as we welcomed our new pupils to their first day at school. They are enjoying exploring their new learning environment and all the resources we have for them.

New Term

Dear Parents,

Welcome to Term 1 of the new academic year and welcome to our new entrance. 

I am sure you will have noticed the front of school looks very different now. After several years of thought and discussion it is very pleasing to see this phase of work almost complete. There are still some finishing touches needed but we are open for business and I now many of you have already been into the new office area to buy uniform and book bags. I have included a couple of other photos of what's inside. We have a new computer suite with enough space for whole classes to sit comfortably and a studio room which we hope to use for all kinds of performing arts learning.  I am sure your children will be very keen to tell you about the exciting learning using our new resources.

The children looked so smart in their uniforms. Thank you for all your extra effort in making sure they follow our new dress code. I have now doubt their smart approach to uniform will be reflected in their learning and behaviour.

Over the next few days you will receive information from your child's class teacher about working together to support their learning over the coming year.  In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns please speak your child's teacher or arrange an appointment with me if necessary.

Goodbye Shakira

Dear Parents,

We have made some some time for celebration these last couple of days as we reflect on some of the achievements we have made this year. Some of our particular highlights have been the fantastic PTFA events this year. You will remember fondly, i'm sure, our Winter Disco, the Spring Food Fair and more recently the Summer Fair. Many of you bought the tea towels and bags decorated with the children's artwork. We owe so much thanks to Shakira for making all these things possible. Three years ago we didn't have a PTFA at all and now we have these events as regular features in our school calendar. So it is with sadness that we say goodbye to Shakira as she begins a new chapter of her life in South Africa. We will miss you so much but we will try to think about how lucky we have been to have had you in our school community for the past few years.

Our challenge now is to keep these fantastic events going next year and beyond!.

1st Prize at Carnival

Dear Parents,

We found out last night that our school won first prize at the Carnival. We are very proud of the pupils and staff for their hard work on the day and in the weeks leading up to the event. This is a fantastic achievement. The Carnival is a very high profile event across the city and thousands of people take part in it each year. Well done Cabot!!!

Sports' Day (Key Stage 1)

More great fun and sporting talent on show this afternoon with our Key Stage 1 events. Thanks again to Miss Huish and Paul Roberts for your fantastic organisation of the event, to all the parents who came to support, and of course, to all the pupils who did their very best.

Sports' Day (Key Stage 2)

I think we can quite confidently say we have just had our best ever Sports' Day.  We had a fantastic range of sports for pupils to compete in, ranging from javelin and discus to sprints and old favourites like the sack race. The events finished with a fantastic Tug of War finale in the Sports Hall. There was an adults event too, but I'm afraid I don't have any pictures of that. I can assure you it was very competitive.
