Spring Food Fair!

Dear Parents,

thank you for contributing to our fantastic PTFA Spring Food Fair. There was so much to enjoy.  Well done Shakira and your team once again for bringing Cabot a fantastic event. it was a very fitting farewell to Miss Baker, who has worked so hard for Cabot in so many ways including supporting PTFA events. Although she has left us for now as a staff member we know she will always be a good friend to our School. We look forward to hearing reports of her adventures.

Thanks also to Miss Davies for arranging the Book Fair at the same time. We know our children love to read and it is a great thing seeing them so excited about choosing books.

Best Wishes

Netball Silver Medal

Well done to our netball team who had a very successful tournament last night. There was strong competition from the 14 teams who took part. Cabot were successful in their group and qualified for the semi finals. Our team went on to face Fishponds in the final and lost by the narrow margin of 2-0. We were awarded silver medals for finishing 2nd overall and we qualify for the regional tournament later this team.

Well Done Team Cabot!

Possible strike action 26th March

Dear Parents,

I would like to give you some advance notification that there may be some disruption to the teaching of some classes on Wednesday 26th March. This is because one of the main teaching Unions, the NUT has called their members out on strike.  At Cabot we have some teachers from this Union who may wish to join the strike. At this point they are not oblige to tell me and may not have made their decision whether to follow the call from their Union. I will let you know more information as it comes to me. By next Monday I will let you know if we need to close any classes for that day.

More information about why the Union has called the strike can be found on the BBC website -

Science Week

Dear Parents,

this week we celebrated Science and Engineering Week at Cabot. Pupils have been up to all kinds of investigative work. Perhaps the highlight has been our visit from "Rocket Man". Children had a very interesting assembly with follow up workshops. Be sure to ask your child how high their rocket went. Thank you Miss Pearce for organising such a great learning experience for us all.

HMI Unannounced Behaviour Visit

Dear Parents,

The letter reporting on our recent HMI visit has now been published on the Osted website. You can read this report, as well as the other recent reports from the last few years, by following the link below.

www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/108992

I am sure you are as pleased as me to hear that the inspector reported "the standard of behaviour has improved substantially over the last 12 months." There are many other positives in the report including, "Teachers are good role models because they manage pupils' behaviour with courtesy and respect." and "Teachers insist on high standards..."

The report notes that "Fewer pupils are excluded from school because they have carefully planned programmes of support." However, we are actively seeking ways to reduce incidents of unacceptable behaviour even further. I will be holding a meeting at 8.45 in the Community Room on Tuesday 18th March to discuss this visit and actions we have in place to continue improving behaviour at Cabot.  All parents are welcome. I look forward to seeing you there.
